Last year, I had the opportunity to attend a content day hosted by local photographer Catherine Alycsa of Catherine Alycsa Photography. I loved the idea she proposed in this gathering, “Sessions at Home”: that special, unique family photos can happen right in your yard.

During these slow winter months, I find myself taking time to catch up on the back-end of my business, such as website updating and blogging. And, given that this little one is now a year old (really, how does time go by so quickly?!), I figured it’s as good a time as any to feature this Langley in-home newborn family session that I loved so much.

It’s no secret that I love big families, both in the wide spread of children from young adults to toddlers, and to a gaggle of young children and babies. It’s chaos, it’s joy, it’s authenticity at its finest.

Fall is in the air, so I thought it would be a good time to catch up on blogging some beautiful sessions from year to get ready for my absolute favorite season. Whether you have a beautiful golden hour, or a cloudy evening like this session, fall photos always turn out so magical.

Golden hours are always gorgeous, but I’ll never say no to a moody and cloudy evening in the mountains here in the Pacific Northwest.
